Field testing the Vaquero and Quattro

First, let me say how tired I am...lol. I know everyone that attended the GNRS has their share of aches and pains today. With that said, I'm very happy to say that I'm extremely pleased with the "in the field" performance of the new Tesoro Vaquero and Minelab Quattro. Please don't ask me "Which one's better?" as honestly, that's comparing apples to oranges. They are totally different detectors in all ways. Separately, I think both companies have hit home runs. Ron (Dixie in MS) and I spent two days of hard core detecting checking both detectors out; and they passed with flying colors. Ron dug a Naval shell frag at measured 19 inches with the Quattro as well as bullets and some buttons at 9 inches. The All Metal mode ID's targets made of iron with negative (-) numbers. The Relic mode uses Ferrous Tones but can be set to operate with Conductive Tones. I used the Tesoro Vaquero and found it to be very simple to Ground Balance and disc out iron. Sensitivity and Discrimination performed very well. Depth was impressive. One cuff button was at 9 inches. I also found some nice brass in heavy iron trash. The light weight allowed me to swing all day without ever having to switch arms. I give these two new detectors a very big thumbs up. I'll be using them at the Shiloh Relic Hunt this weekend. More later, or give us a call for more details. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

Would you say these two machines are top of the line coin machines.Or do you feel there are better machines out there for this. Bob
