Finally....1st silver of the year and VERY first gold ever!!! :)

Got out today and happy that the rain stayed up in the clouds. Went to a few of my nearby hard-hammered spots.

I got my 1st silver for the year ('59 Roosie, not Seated but I'll take it) along with a 1906 V Nickel, 14 Wheaties, a VFW Auxiliary pin, and a 4-H Pin.

I went and switched to ferrous tones (I usually hunt conductive) just for the heck of it. I thought I was digging a nickel but out popped a 10K 1966 class ring. The inset is missing from the stone so don't know what school it's from, but there is a C and an A to either side of the stone. My hunch is it's from the local high school so I'll do a little research and try getting it back to its owner.

It's 10K from Josten's. My wife thinks the stone is real ruby because they were still routinely using genuine stone back when the ring was made.

Any input on this???

Nice going Sgt!!!! Looks like a high school class ring you have there. I can't make out the details on it, but if they are there then you might have a good chance of finding our who it might belong to. I found one a couple of years ago and what a nice feeling it was for me to get it back to the gal who lost it. She wore it to her 30th class reunion last year and she sent me the nicest letter thanking me for getting it back to her. I read the letter at one of our club meetings and it kind of choked me up and even brought some tears to some of the members...........:) HH.

Very nice finds SgtSki in MI. I found a Gold 1974 class ring 2 years ago and returned it to the owner and I didn't even get a thank you back in return. I wrote 2 letters asking if he had gotten it and not even a response. I probably should have kept that ring since it was a really nice looking ring. I hope you have better luck than I did and get at least a thank you from the owner and looks like there should be some Barber since you found a V-Nickel. Good Luck and HH.

I know the feeling. A couple of years ago I found a real nice, recently lost, class ring in Eastern Wa. I tracked it down and found the phone number of the person and called. When they finally answered and I explained who I was and what I had found the person said basically he could care less and if I wanted to send it to them it was fine as right after it was lost they got a replacement ring from the ins. co. Needless to say I kept the ring and found out that most people do get ins. on the class rings. It's still nice to return them if possible I know I would want mine returned and be grateful.

I have to agree with you jb. Some people might have insurance and some people could just care less and then there are those who are very ungrateful when you do return a class ring and it makes you wonder at times if it's worth the trouble to get it back to the rightful owner, but in my one and only case I was lucky enough to get this gals ring back and she very happy and gracious and sent me a very nice letter thanking me. I do have one other class ring, but it is so worn that you can just barely make out the year 1940. Going to the meeting next Wednesday? See you there if you are coming.
