Finally found one!

I hadn’t detected in about 7 months and I finally found one! I detected an old school that I had detected previously where I found 2 Indian head penny’s and a 1909 wheat penny and I this time around I found an 1899 Barber quarter! I also found an Australian Florian - it is half silver. The Barber quarter took me a while to dig out because it was under tree root. I also scratched it but I’m nonetheless still happy. I had previously found two Barber dimes but now I have the quarter and next is the half dollar! I found an ignition coil for a model t (my first as well) I also found shotgun shell (1901 Winchester) and a small disc with writing on it? I can’t make it out. I also found the world’s smallest toy gun. I also found a kids ring and a few pieces of metal. I had a great time! The ground was hard to dig I could have used a Jack hammer. I can’t wait to get back out there again hopefully after it has rained but as we know it never rains in California 😂

I don't know why, but I get excited about a good signal under a tree root. Digging under one is a pain even in nice soil because of all the traveler roots, but you know it's a target others missed or passed on. Outstanding find! Best I dug from under a root was a merc dime.

Thank you so much I agree it took me a while to extract it but it was well worth it. I would definitely dig under a root again.

Well done on your first Barb quarter! So, the toy is cool and actually is q squirt gun, a rubber squeeze bulb would have fit over the flange on the pistol grip. They are about the same age as the barbie.

Well done you! I do remember my first Barber Quarter and where I found it. Good times.

Thank you for the information. I’ve never found a gun like that before. Makes me feel good that it is old as the coin!
