Finally Found Silver!

I have owned my Exp II about a month and today I finally found silver. I knew there was silver in my back yard but it wasn't until I stopped using the stock decrimination pattern and went to IM -10 that I started finding some older coins on my property. I broke through the current clad barrier and have found several wheats, fired 50 cal WWII machine gun bullet, and some WWII wheats. My place is close to an old army base.
It is interesting how accurate the sound is on this detector as compared to the screens. If I only watched the screens, I wouldn't find anything but clad.
Can't wait till tomorrow. I start searching a new site from the 1920's and should be easy diggings since it is all sand.
Anyways, I couldn't wait to finally post "I found silver". I gave it to my wife and will give her the first gold as well.

Although my first silver was a 1964 Roosevelt dime, it still is my first silver. Looking forward to finding some older silver now I have broken through the clad barrier.
 
Isnt it awesome to find that first silver coin!I still love digging silver; when you first see it it usualy is a lump of dirt with a shiny edge sticking out. you dont know what it is yet, but you know it has to be old and the old ticker speeds up a notch. one of the nice things about silveris it comes out looking as clean as when it went in.the next thing is to get the dirt off and see what you have which speeds the ticker up another notch. Most likely, your next silver experiance will be a mercury dime from the early fourtys, and It will be in a matter of days, mark my word! after a few months of that the god of dirt will award you with your first barber making you one of the big boys! I became a big boy last April, but I still can get excited about a silver rosie. Even a 1964 is very rare to find still in circulation, and generaly in far worse shape than one you dug.
one other thing, I used to wipe the dirt off right away when I found one. That was leaving fine scratches on the surface detracting from their beauty and value. everyone on the forum has been exposed to my solution bet if your interested, you can E mail me.

Thanks for your message and everyone elses responses.
It was really a thrill to see that shiny silver poop of of the hole. Funny thing is it was about a foot away from my test garden dime and I thought I had accidently dug up my newly planted clad dime since it looked so nice.
Good thoughts on cleaning. I never gave much thought about scratching it. Speaking of scratching coins, after a few more silvers, I think I will be investing in a Sunray X-1 probe. Finding that little coin is a chore without a decent probe.
I would be interested to in hearing your cleaning techniques.

Keep up your enthusiasm and before you know it, the oldies will find you. Good luck with your new machine. It is a great machine and a bit frustrating at times.
