Finally something not silver plated...Silver Spoon!

Well no silver coins for me today, but I can't say I got skunked. Took the E-trac back to my dads house today where I have been very successful. Found two wheats, 1944 and a 1916S and finally a Sterling Silver piece of flatware. I have dug a few forks and spoons throughout the years, but they were all silver plated, but this one looked so nice coming out of the ground I knew it was Silver. It's a Reed & Barton Teaspoon...the design is called silver wheat and was started in the 1950's.

Nice find. I got one of those last year at a 1920's house. Pinpointed on the spoon portion and when I went to cut the plug it literally jumped out of the ground because I had hit the handle with the shovel. Surprised me a little. I have never before or after had something that wanted out of the ground that bad. :heh:

Nice find! I scored a silver plated spoon a few months back, then a month later got a real old silver spoon with a date stamp of the maker from 1811. I scatched it a little, thought it was junk the way to was so bent up and crushed from the soil. I suspect it was moved dirt from a another site though since it had no place being where I found it.

That still awesome!
