and a very interesting day, again! The post-office parking in front and sides were full, so I had to park way in the back! The weather is windy and cool, so was gasping by the time I got to the side! This lady had just pulled into a side parking spot....with lots of spots empty now! I told her that she was lucky, as I had to park in back! She commented about Parallel Parking as she hardly ever does it, and I said me too!
Went inside and the place was full of people, so a long wait as I had number 75 and they were only on 45 or 46....anyway, the lady was behind me and I had pulled out a small envelope from the pkgs and other larger envelopes in my bag to mail in the slot....she immediately said let me mail it for you, so she did the walking and back! Her number was 78 and she said that she would drive me to my car, so I wouldn't have to walk back to it! I said, Oh, thank you and that is very kind of you! Some lady offered her number 70 to one of us and since she was going to wait for me or me her, I handed it to an older lady that had just gotten her number, which was higher than ours!
While we were waiting, a guy asked if anyone had Certified Mail to pick up and she did, so she was able to get that done a lot sooner! But she still had a pkg to send! Another lady handed me her number 62 and I looked at her and the one who would let me ride with her to my car, and she said that is okay, go ahead and take it and I said well, I would wait for her....she had number 78. but she had decided since she had what she really had came for, that she was going to meet her daughter in the South County Mall and would mail it there, I guess! She took me to my car and I said, Thank you and then touched her on her shoulder and said, God Bless you and Merry Christmas! She smiled with her eyes shining evern brighter and I told her that was for her mother, also! She had told me that she hoped someone would do the same for her mother! Now, I know she is a Christian and the Lord blessed me with lower numbers and with this lady to help me! God is good!
Then I stopped at Dierbergs near where I live to pick up some foods that I still needed, but OH ME, OH MY, how expensive they have become! Three brown paper bags full was almost $71.00 and that was with mostly sale items! Can you imagine paying $2.99 for one Cucumber and their Beef Stk tomatoes were way too high for me to buy any! And just imagine, MOM had a garden full of both when we were still on the farm! She grew some of the biggest Beef Steak Tomatoes that anyone could have ever seen!
After checking out, I started out the door and saw the Salvation Army Bell Ringer, young man....younger them me that is...at the red kettle, So I stopped and talked to him and while getting a $1.00 out of my purse, he was asking if he could help me with my groceries, and I said, No....that is okay, I can handle them and thanked him for his offer of helping....but found out one bag was really heavy, as they put most of the heavier stuff in it!
He was saying, God Bless you and Merry Christmas, and I told him, How wonderful it was to hear those words and he agreed. He said his mother was a Senior Citizen and he understood and was raised to help others. A very nice guy he is and I left saying, God Bless you and Merry Christmas!! Drove home and took the mail out of my box and carried groceries into house and put them away and then ate supper! Well, that was another interesting day and a blessed one! God gives so many blessings...even if they are many small ones! Oh yes, our God is Good!! Praise God and Thank You, Jesus!!! Amen!
May God Bless you all! Betty
