Finding a cache in walls or floors

gee_dubya

I might have the opportunity to help a guy search his parents home where he believes his father may have hidden coins and valuables in the walls and floors before passing away. Will it be possible to find small caches in the walls and floors with a Garret Ace 250?

Anyone with experience in this area care to share any tips or tricks?

Thanks in advance.

Sure if it's metal. But.. You also may get fooled a bit by wiring, etc in the walls.
If I wanted to search a wall, most likely I'd whip out my sniper coil.
Slower, but probably easier to tell wire from potential cache. If you get a hit,
and it continues to run up a wall, etc, it's probably a wire.
I start logically though.. If he put it in a wall, there should be traces of drywall repair.
If on a floor, also should be some trace, unless he pulled a floor board or whatever.
Detecting the average floor will be a nightmare no matter what coil you use.
Nails, rebar in cement, etc.. You'll see when you try it..

Use all your natural resources first. Is there a picture hanger w/plaster-stuff was tied to a wire or rope and then joined to the hanger and plastered around it, leaving the cash or whatever dangling behind the wall. Do you hear squeaks in the flooring not normal to the other rooms. Look for unnatural scratch marks or a duller finish in places. Some people use a neon light to show up abnormalities on the walls. Do some places sound hollower than others? Did he show preferences for a particular room-stay there longer than other rooms? If the same furniture is there, there may be false drawers or bottoms in them. The list goes on and on-AND then you can use your detector for confirmation.
