Finding gold, but small. What does an ounce of flake look like?

I know it is not a lot, but where I found it, there is a LOT more to gather. Being small, it is difficult to extract it from the surrounding materials, but I have figured out a VERY simple way to do it, and this is about what I got in an hour or so.

So, that said, how much of this stuff do I need to gather before I have enough to sell? (Need to figure out if I can FINALLY quit my job!!!)

What does an ounce of this look like?

Would it sell better if I melted it down in a crucible, or sell it as natural flake?

That's nowhere close to an oz. more like 2 0r 3 grams. Grubstake

Yep gold is worth something no matter what, keep getting that stuff and eventually you will have something. But sell it raw in flake form so that it's pure people don't buy melted gold unless it's been verified. So many scams.

I doubt it is even a gram.

I just wanted to see if it was even worth my time to gather it anymore. Or if I needed to buy an electronic scale...

So, if/when I take it to the gold buyer, will he pay me as if it is 24 kt?

Got it measured. .2 grams.

Guess I cannot quit my day job!!!

Actually, that is about $9 per hour, no taxes, good honest labor...I probably COULD quit my day job!

I hate to bust your bubble but gold seldom has flat angular surfaces. Your picture may be deceiving but I would bet what you have there is iron pyrite and not gold. Put a piece on a hard surface and see if it crushes to powder when you press on it with a knife or other hard surface. If it crushes , it's pyrite , if it flattens , it could be gold.
A 3/8" I. D. tube with about an inch of material will equal about an ounce of flake gold

Looks like fun, maybe pickers in the area? -----3000-3300 that size to a OZ. If my memory is correct ---GH-------------after1-------

I will try that, pounding, to verify. I want it verified before I go out there and collect 3000 pieces.

I do have two other systems that I can use together or separately, to remove gold from beach sand, which would pull this stuff out MUCH quicker than picking it by hand.

I only see one little piece that looks like it might be gold and not sure of it. Dose it go strate to the bottom of a pan of water and lay there when moveing the water slow around the pan.
