Finds from Saturday's Pre-Buried Coins Hunt!:spin:

It was as always an excellent time and a lot of fun to be with the guys once again. We got the Hunt started off with the Half Dollar/Dollar Hunt which consisted of Sacagawea Dollars,Susan B. Anthony Dollars, a few Eisenhower Dollars and Kennedy Halves. No silver just clad in this warm-up hunt. I found 2 Eisenhower Dollars, 1 Susan B. Anthony Dollar, 9 Sacagawea Dollars, and 10 Kennedy Halves. Then we had lunch with Sausage, Hotdogs, Burgers, Chips, and you all kinds of other goodies. We then started with the 2nd Hunt which consisted with over I believe 1,700 Clad Quarters and I believe a few real Silver Dollars. This Hunt was a bit different. You couldn't cheat because Jeff had spray painted all the edges of the Quarters blue and no one knew this but him. The first ranked guy was paired with the last place guy and it went so on, so forth. The rankings were used from the Spring Hunt totals finds per person and used for this Hunt. I was the first ranked so got the last place person. I didn't care about who I really got, all I knew was I was going out there and no matter what, I was going to give it my best shot. There were cash prizes up for grabs and first place was I believe $60 which would have been $30 a piece. I noticed right before the Hunt was to get started that I had cracked my black arm cup on my Explorer. I was going to have Jeff wait until I put a new one on but I thought that it would hold up during this hunt and I could fix it after. WRONG!!! Half way thru it I snapped one side of the arm cup off. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to swing the detector without a arm cup. I finally found a way by putting the detector in my left hand (I am right handed) and grab the back of the machine with my right hand and do a swathing motion. There was a lot of people laughing because it looked like I was trying to cut hay but it worked. In fact, I could swing my detector just as fast as having an arm cup on my detector which was kind of shocking. Anyways, the figures were about 80 Quarters per person and I found 98 while my partner Mark found 42. Good hussle Mark! There was a tie for 3rd and 4th so we ended up getting 5th place out of 11th. Not bad considering I had a broken machine half way thru that hunt. Me and my partner got $13 a piece and it was a lot of fun. Then we waited a bit and had the last Hunt of the day. The Silver Hunt. I thought there was going to be more silver in it but look at the price of silver coins. It consisted of Halves, Quarters, and Dimes. I found 1 Walking Liberty Half, 1 Standing Liberty Quarter, 2 Washington Quarters, and 20 Roosevelt Dimes making a total of 24 Silver. Wish there would have been more Silver but look at all the Clad and the Cash Prize so it was a good Hunt once again. Then we had Finds of the Month. I got 3 1st place and received 3 Silver Roosevelt Dimes, a 2nd or 2, and a couple 3rd's I believe. I also got an extra 5 Points for my Morgan Dollar. We also had a raffle and I won a Silver Kennedy Half. I also won a Camper's Trail Kit as a membership prize with 5 being given out. Pic's are below.[attachment 33435 HuntHalves-Dollars.jpg][attachment 33439 HuntQuarters.jpg][attachment 33433 HuntSilver.jpg][attachment 33438 HuntPrizes.jpg]

I don't know about you but when I'm thru with the timed hunt I think I have more dirt and grass in my pouch than anybody. Sure do love to get down and dirty. I don't usually come in first but I certainly get my share of prize tokens. Just curious as to the entry fee as it looks as if you came close to getting it back in prizes and quarters.
Nice hunt and glad you enjoyed it.

Looks like you got your share of the coins James. Nice going......:) I like those seeded hunts also, but I haven't been to very many. Fifth place ain't nothing to sneeze at and you did okay on the other prizes. Sorry to hear about your arm cup busting on you. I thought the black ones were suppose to be stronger than the older ones. Good luck on your next for real hunt and HH.

I found a few keepers this weekend while out hunting a few spots so I will post them tomorrow night after I clean everything up. These finds are the ones a person's got to work for so keep an eye out tomorrow night.

Jeff was going to try some water hunting in the river I guess so who knows if he found anything. He could have got skunked but I will find out from Corey if he heard anything. Talk with ya later buddy!:spin:

I ended up with 1 Ike, 1 susan B, 2 sak. and 24 halves in the warm up hunt.
Competition hunt i ended up with 107 quarters
silver hunt i ended up with 1 morgan dollar, 1 half, 5 quarters and 21 dimes.
As slways, Jeff put on a great hunt.

I know it was a swimming area because it says it in the Lamoure Centennial Book. Maybe he just didn't hit the right spot. Maybe next time.

Congratulations! I know these hunts are exciting and fun, I like them too, it's great! You made the understatement of the century when you said, "but look at the price of silver coins"! All the coins you found in that hunt that are not silver are nothing more that offical "slugs". Take those "slugs" and buy real silver coins and put them away for the future. In my humble opinion, the price of silver and gold will go through the roof in our life time...

Happy Hunting...

That was what I plan on doing is just buy some silver with the clad I found. Or just save it up for a nice Gold Coin. Either way, you can't lose. Thanks Holedigger!

I wish I could have made this one as it sounded like fun. I was to wait for the motor cycle rider to show up at the bar, but they called Friday night to let me know they were not showing up and was too late to make it then.
Cant wait for the spring hunt and anyone that wants to come to a great park (like Paradise) that has old finds still in it, plus meet some of the best people you will ever meet you will have to come to Grand Rapids, ND for our spring hunt and see the great job Jeff does as hunt master.
