Finishing jewelry

Here's an idea for making a jewelry finishing setup at home. Mike wanted to see the pics - Steve in so az

You can buy some emery paper - 600 grit for smooth and 200 grit for rough .These will take out most marks, not deep ones of course. This paper is usually cheap.
For a final buffing the easiest way is to have a buffing wheel on a motor. Then you use a stick of red rouge on the cloth wheel (buy at a jewelry supply store or from a magazine) and it finishes & polishes nicely.
I made a buffing wheel from an old cooler motor, washing machine motor works also. I got a spindle from the hardware store that was tapered on one end to take a cloth wheel. The other end fits on the electric motor shaft and screwed down to it.
All this is not real expensive, maybe 25 bux if you dont have to buy a motor. I have a wire wheel on the other end of the motor's shaft, very handy also. This setup will last you forever.

I used this combination extensively when I was making Jewelry. Be careful though as Zam does remove metal very quickly.

have given some thought to using my rock tumbler ( coin cleaner ) to tumble some stones and put into rings but havent done so yet. May make a winter project out of it some time
