first and second nuggets with 705

took the e 705 out to the mountains of Montana again. After playing with the settings for a bit, then deciding to set it back to the factory settings ,found the bigger nugget(1.8 grams). The hot rocks pose a little problem but pretty easy to figure out once you listen for a bit. I don't care what the skeptic so this machine will find gold.

I have always wanted to go nugget hunting. Congratulations.

Nice nuggets! Just got my 705 and went out this weekend. We'll be in Helena in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to trying it out around there.

Great job of having patience! What coil are you using? What was your sensitivity setting? What was your discrimination mode?
Thanks

hey lucky1 I'm using the 18.75 elliptical.the settings I'm using are the factory settings and 5 on the discrimination. Test nugget is a must wouldn't have found the second one without it just to hear the pitch of a nugget compared to a deep nail.

Two nice Nuggets...Hope your luck continues.Off to a great start!

Good Going for the Gold.! I have both the HF elliptical and HF 10.5" round. The elliptical coil will find smaller grain sized nuggets than the round coil, and also find smaller nuggets(about -1 to 2 gram) deeper than the round coil. But the bigger the nuggets get then the round coil will then take over and find about +1 to 2 gram deeper, to coin sized nuggets about 40% deeper. <=Of course it all depends on surface area facing the coil. In other words that is why the elliptical is recommended for gold prospecting(and not the round coil) because most nuggets are smaller than about 1 to 2 grams and the elliptical coil does better on these.

You mean 5 Iron Mask(IM) on the Prospecting Mode.?? (5 will blank out some small nails, experiment with IM up to 20 max and see what nuggets will also be blanked out and what you can stand to lose then back it off to a lower number. Some people run at only 1, but 5 or more maybe be better for you if you are in a nail infested area.)

In low trash areas a trick is to run-search in Prospecting Mode, then when you get a target switch over to C&T Mode to check the TID number. If there are no numbers being too deep for C&T Mode, then dig the target.
