First Barber & feeble attempt at pics:cam:

I had about an hour to kill on my way home & hit paydirt on the first dig...about 2" down under what I think may be an old pop top...I'm not sure Just a cake of rust over what appears to be some kind of plastic like film...I thought the target was deep & thought I had it pinpointed pretty well, but after gouging a 3X3 hole in the dirt I could see a glint of silver imbedded in the wall of the hole about 2" down...popped it out & was holding my first barber...1912 D...lots of trash & could barely hear the good signal...switched to digital & the best read I could get was 07-23...Once out of the ground it sings at about a foot 03-28...before I got it out of the ground though I realized how close I came to dinging it...X-1 Probe & 4X7 coil...TT MAN THAT PIC SUCKS!!! I guess I need to get out the manual & read it huh???

4 Silver is great in an outing. Hope you figure out the Pic problem and repost the Pic for us. Continued success to you and Good Luck and HH.

Sorry James. the other three are from previous hunts...This is my 1 1/2 week total...only silver I found today was the barber, two clad quarters and 6 zincolns..TT (But I'm still Jazzed)..:bouncy:

tomtowns,

Look for a macro mode on your digital camera. It will help with those close-up pictures. Congrats on your silver!

Nice finds TT,
and hey ~ don't worry about the pic quality at the moment.

You'll get there!

Thanks Guys...I found my quick start guide & can get the camera in macro but I'm gonna wait until I find the manual, so I can set up to get the best picture possible....Kinda like my new detector....Practice, practice, practice...TT

Hi tomtowns,
Congrats on your first Barber! Get accustomed to finding silver with your new Explorer because it has quite an appetite for it. I have had many Barber dimes sound and read out much lower than a normal silver signal such as yours. Usually when this happens the coin itself happens to be worn really flat so that might be a factor(of course I can't tell from your picture b/c it makes me dizzy!!! Haha (I Had to bust your chops) Happy hunting- Brian

Hi tomtowns,
Nice finds. The problem with the focus as you have it is that you were too close to the coins for the camera to focus; the macro setting should allow you to compensate for most of this but, then again you can get too close or even too far away for a macro setting. Keep hunting and good luck.
