I got permission to hunt the yard around a house that was built in the 50s but it just so happens to be waterfront property with Fort Monroe across the water. I ended up finding a 7th regiment National Guard button with a D on the shield pretty early in the day. It would have been quite a ways under water had the tide not been so low. I found 2 wheaties, a childrens brass ring, a lead soldier, some modern coinage, and a whatchamahoozit. Does anyone want to throw out any guesses as to what the rectangular plate of lead is? It clearly was notched on one end. I'm guessing it was fabricated to be a weight on a gill net.

Nice finds!
