I went detecting at a beach today with another forum member. Being my second outing with the T2, I had no real expectations other than to get used to the machine. We hunted quite some time before we found an area that had any metal at all to show signs of activity. I dug some fishing weights, large and small, and was hoping for gold, when I got a high tone, very repeatable, and pinpointed using the DD wiggle. It was probably 6 or so inches down because it took awhile to find with the propointer-but there it was, a 1961 silver dime! I think that's a nice first coin to break in my new machine!
I went on to find several nickles hiding amongst trash, and a couple more clad dimes and fishing weights. Unfortunately the beach just wasn't a good one with lots if activity, so no gold today.
Settings varied, sens mostly 75-80, disc 10-15, and 3b and BP. The dimes and nickles gave sweet high tones in 3b! Some of the nickles were mixed in with iron bits but still squeaked through. I know one thing I've learned already: when the T2 talks, it pays to listen!
