First day out with my first Minelab

Hi All,
Well my first day out with my first Minelab it is used i bought a used Explorer XS i loved the way it worked i was pulling Clad, 50cal, shell caseings, relic's out of the beach sand like mad for the first 2 hours. Then all of a sudden as i was swinging it around the detector was going nuts i looked at the coil somehow i snaped off the fitting that seals the wire into the coil:veryangry: and it filled with salt water. when i got home i tried to flush it out with fresh water. but i don't think it will survive. Any ideas? or should i just go buy a new coil. if i buy a new coil any suggustions i would like to get another large coil to replace it. will any exlporer coil work like the Explorer II or SE?
Thanks Wally

Sorry to hear the bad news about the Coil Cord Stiffener breaking. Any Coil that is made for the Explorer Series Detectors will work as long as you make sure you don't make the mistake of purchasing a Coil from a Sovereign or other Minelab Detector. The NEW 10.5" Slim Line Coil that comes with the NEW Explorer SE is centered better than the older ExplorerS, XS and 2 Coils which makes the Detector seem like it is lighter to swing. If I was to buy a New Coil, I would get the Slim Line Coil. If you want a bigger Coil than the 10.5", then you may want to get either the Sun Ray X-12 Coil (12"), Excellerator 14" Coil, or maybe even the WOT 15" Coil made by Coiltek. But remember, bigger Coils means more stress on your arm so you may consider on getting a Swingy Thingy to help lessen the load. Hope this helps and Good Luck and HH when you get back out there swinging again.
