First day out with my new 4.5 x 7" DD Coil

The Seiko watch was 3" deep in the dirt and grass at the edge of a park
between the road and sidewalk next to the curb. How does anyone lose
a watch like that in a strange place? The larger 11"DD coil may not have found
it with the re-bar in the curb and the $1.00 coin was found 6" away from a steel pole
in a children's playground and the same thing with the locket.
Watch ID at #32, $1.00 coin at #38 and the silver locket at #37.
Coin and locket were about 4" deep. Also I found a lot of clad coins.
A penny and quarter were only 2" apart, but the small coil got 2 distinct readings.
I'm happy with this new coil in these trash areas.

Hi Regis nice finds m8 I too have found my small SEF 8x6" good for trashy areas, I like the way you can get close to barbed wire & chain link fences.
I have done an air test to compare the depth of the 8x6" against the Pro coil with some finds inc Roman & Victorian coins modern gold & silver rings etc,
and was most surprised to find that the most I lost in depth was 1/2" to 1 & half inches and a couple were exactly the same depth.
Not a true test of buried objects I know, but its good to think your not missing too much with the smaller coil.
cheers:ukflag:

geordiefred,

You probably read in another thread that this 4.5 x 7" DD coil
will find a very small 6 grain of gold nugget at 1 1/2" deep.
And of course the larger nuggets will be detected deeper.
I wonder how well your 8 x 6" coil and other small coils will do
on Gold.
I haven't had time to do an air test with this coil,
but in the field it seems very sensitive to deep targets.
and especially very small metal objects.
Just another ( great ) coil in my arsenal to help me find as many
targets as humanly possible.
