A friend and I hit our local park. He had a Whites MXT and I used a Fisher F4 with the 11" DD coil. This is my big haul. Nothing that spectacular. The big coin shown is a Chuck E Cheese token!
The only complaint I have is, even with the sensitivity at 2 I was still sometimes digging 8" for the coin. In one case I dug almost a 1' and found a piece of old barbed wire. I'm thinking it was because the ground was very soft due to a lot of rain in the last few weeks. Another thing that happened a few times, is when I sweep a certain spot the machine just goes nuts. jumping all over the place, even when I move the coil away. The ID was accurate to a degree. When I hit a solid dime signal. It was a dime. When I hit a solid zinc signal it was a penny. Pull tabs registered all over the place as did screw caps. Several times the id moved between 25c and 50c. In every case it was a screw cap. I am wondering why there is a "SC" notch when the screw caps rarely hit there. Spending time in the park really helped me learn the pinpointing. When my friend and I compared pinpointing, the F4 was spot on with the MXT every time using the same target. I had Iron 1 and 2 notched out on the F4. Several times when the F4 was bouncing around the 70 to 90 range the MXT was id'ing a lot lower and indicated iron as the target. When we dug it up, it was a rusty piece of barbed wire. One thing that impressed me is how small some of the targets were. I dug up a piece of pull tab that was about the size of a piece of a half a piece of rice at about 4". I may be going to a local high school tomorrow, I'll post my finds if I do
