only problem i seemed to have with aquarsearch was loud signal type noise at the end of my swing going left.
worked knee deep surt to waist deep for two hours.
only big tone difference i could see today was in bobby pins................dug two 8 scoops down, remember i am in surf so holes fill in fast, but had to dig 8 to retrieve.........this baby is a hound for sunglasses..........dug 6pair and one pair of gold plated prescription..............two pair at 12 scoops down and one pair at 15...........found nice ladies watch at 8 scoops and silver earrings at 11scoops...............would have never found these with excaliber
threshold seemed to work good, except loud noise like target at the end of my sweep going left.
will test again on saturday...........any info. on swing help would be appreciated.

Max,
It sounds like you picking up something to your left. There's nothing in the detector circuit that would do that.
Usual items are the scoop or some other metal item with you, especialy since it's always at the end of a left swing.
If it were electrial interference it would change to the right side as you moved in different direction.

Isn't that the side you wear your scoop on? Sounds like you have been oding a lot of digging Max!!!!

Are you sure that noise to the left is not simply the deeper water?
Just a thought

it would show up when he turns around, and then it would be on his right side.
It really sounds like it's picking up a target on him. Perhaps he needs to get into the water without any metal on him, and try it out. Doesn't that make sense ? He doesn't need any other equipment as he's just trying to find out cause.
Like I mentioned, it would have to change sides as he turned around. When I spoke to him, he told me left side. Has to be picking up something on him.
Mr. Bill

I've searched at right angles to the shoreline (facing directly out to sea) and can still generate a lazy audio tone, it doesn't bother me at all. At the point where you stop your sweep in one direction and begin it the other way, a lazy tone sound can sometimes be heard.
Even though the deep water is directly in front of you, don't forget that the depth of water to your right and left can be different. It doesn't take much to trigger a lazy tone sound.
Tweaking the REJECT and/or the SAT will reolve this problem. It certainly does with my GQSS.
I put up with a few minor noises (that I know are not target sounds)in order to operate the detector in top gear.
Regards
Tony.

you have a metal plate in your leg, like my son has, as a result of a break just above his ankle recently.
Other thing is to check that the cable down near the coil is not moving as you sweep through the water.
The fact that the problem did not occur in fresh water, does seem to indicate that it is a salt water conductivity effect, though.
