I will give you my account at a site I have used an Explorer many times.
Loved the large numbers on the meter, very big, lots of info, not cluttered. .
Balance the same as the Explorer.
Audio louder.
Pinpoint much easier , has a screen that shows you when your over a target, right under the Minelab logo on the front of the coil was dead center on. No radio tower or buried cable interference encountered.
Did not love,
hot rock's in my area drove the detector crazy( 9 on the meter), but you can knock them out , no backlight, not sure but not as many tones, wet grass in the morning caused Quattro to give out false signals(high pitch), then it simmered down in the afternoon .
Depth was excellent, dug a small rivet at the bottom of the depth bar, loud and clear. I used auto sensitivity, high iron mode for the bad ground. No opinion until I put 100 hours on it. I hunted in the all metal and relic mode. Very easy to use but lots of sounds to understand. Should be swung slow!

Wet Grass falsing Problems.Did you seal the coil cover with RTV sealent as we do with the Explorers to stop the water getting between the two faces.???

Hi,many of us seal our coils to the detecor heads over here.
With the MKII we use black to match the coil.
We apply it generously around the coil push on the cover an wipe the surplus away with old rag.
White spirit will also remove any rtv thats left over.
having got rid of 99% of the waste squeezed out from pushing on the coil cover
The clever bit is to spit on your finger to get a nice finish where the cover and the coil meet.
You can end up with a real professional finish that looks like a factory finish.
This is a once only job but should you wish to remove the cover because its RTV it can be removed without a problem.
