first field hunt for this fall.

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
Wed they picked a seed corn field that was on my way to work, so I did some checking and their use to be a farm house in that field. Fri on my way home from work their was a farmer disking the field across the road from the field that I want to hunt and that was a seed corn field too so I stopped and ask if it was his field across the road too and it was and he gave me permission to hunt it. This morning I MDed it and found 2 nice IH's a 1898 and a 1902. I also found a 51d wheat. This field did not have very much trash but it was loaded with IRON. Both IH's had a piece of iron almost touching the coin so when you guy's are MDing those fields this fall and you get a some what good tone along with I iron grunt, dig it and check it out.

Looks like your startin off on the right foot! Nice looking IH's! No fields have been harvested yet over here, but it should be soon!

Congrats on the finds Mark. I just got back from a short trip up to your neck of the woods, to visit the grandkids, and saw some corn that had been picked. Still a few weeks out, down this way. But seeing those fields up there being picked gets me excited! HH Randy

Nice finds Mark! Funny how the older one is in better shape.

Just a couple more weeks and the beans will be comming down, and that's what I'm waiting for. Unusually, I've got a site within walking distance of home, and as soon as the beans are off I'll be on it.

I hope you was able to do some MDing when you was up this way.

Congratulations. I am waiting for the beans to be picked here.

Didn't have time. One of these days, I'll give you advance notice and we'll get together for a hunt. HH Randy
