First hot day of summer.........

Bobbie

New member
With all the rain we have had and it ruined the tomatoes, today was the first hot day that we have had all summer. We took off for the lane before the phone could ring calling me in for over time. Hubby found a couple of junk rings and I got a heavy weight .925.

We had more than 17 inches of rain between June and July and it brought out all kinds of diseases and blights for everything. CT's tomato crop is almost descimated, every tomato is rotting before it turns ripe. And the prize crop that CT is proud of is it's shade grown tobacco for cigars was totally wiped out. Corn crops, which are grown in many of the CT river valley flood plains during the summer when it is dry have been washed away by floods. There are many diseases affecting the apple and peach crops because the spraying schedules were interupted by heavy rains. I guess we will have to eat Chinese food for the next year!!
