First hunt of the year

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
and it was a short one.lol.

I went out to a One Room school house / bean field that I hit last fall. I wasn't going to go out today because it's not all that warm out and it's real windy but I had to just to see if the frost was out of the ground yet and it's out. I only lasted for about a hour before I was froze but I did manage to find one keeper and it's a 1899 V nickel. I always like finding those V nickels and my first 1800's coin for the year, so I'm happy...

The first hunt of the year is always exciting . Congratulations.

Great first hunt Mark!

I'm going to take the 7.5 DD out to the field next to try to find a nickel or two. I'd love to find a V out there.

Nice way to start the season Mark. If I can just keep the temp up, and the wind down, I'll be tektin' soon. HH Randy

I can only guess what a great feeling it is to finally get out and MD after such a wait....Good to get that first one in even if it is short and So-so!.....That V nickle would be a first in my book and a unforgettable find, but then so would a IH,SLQ,barber,...or any coin from the 1800's.
Good luck with the spring thaw and warmer weather,I know it can't happen fast enough for you all up North...

Thanks guys,,, it was fun to get back to MDing, it has been a long winter here.

Longhair, hit those 1RSH's / fields, they are always a good place to find those V's and Buff's

bob oz, hit the yards in the oldest parts of town and you'll find those coins and good luck

worth freezing your extremities for
congrats
