First hunt with the 10.5" DD

Finally got it out for the first real hunt. Went to my honey hole that I've hit over and over in the past picking all the good targets....or so I thought. The spot is by a creek and its only about 30' by 30'. It used to be a damed up creek used for ice skating and it seems I found where there must have been a fire pit or burn barrel because I've pulled over a hundred pieces of clad from this small spot.
Well it seems the 10.5" DD made my old spot new again. So many more targets left behind by my two old coils. I didn't dig them all because I only brought my hand shovels and kind of needed the full size since the ground was so hard. The coil has fantastic target separation and goes a few inches deeper than the stock. I ended up with a '54 quarter, my first ever silver dime ('63), a wheatie, some clad a silver ring with a tigers eye stone.
It was a short hunt but already can tell this coils a winner, wish I got it three years ago. Thanks to all who recommended it.

Sounds like you had a great hunt. I'm still trying to decide if I should get that same coil or save a bit more and get the coiltek 15 inch. HH!

I wouldn't think the big coilltek would be good if there is very much trash. And it would be heavier to. I like my 10.5 inch coil.

7cw, that's exactly why I can't decide. Some places I have been hunting have been very trashy. But then I have hit big open fields with very little trash. What to do, what to do? Maybe I'll just get both...better work some more overtime:detecting:

Save your money bud, nothing against the Coiltek 15, you will only get more coverage and MORE weight with it, Get the 10.5DD and don't look back!!

I am considering getting a used 10.5 MF coil for my 505. I already have the Minelab 6" HF which I absolutely love and the coiltek digger 6" which so far has been underwhelming, and I also have the concentric MF.

I'd definitely get one if I were you. They're hard to find used tho. If you get one, be prepared to rehunt your favorite spots.

The 10.5MF is a good all-round coil. Be aware that some deep targets tend to sound like Iron with this coil.
Since the Terra is not the fastest machine out there, searching in trashy areas is a pain.
The 6"HF coil is good for trashy areas, but is very noisy and will indicate even the smallest targets. Good for gold nuggets.

Minelabs you just have to swing really slow in the trash.
