First hunt with the XP.

I learned a couple of things about the Deus on my first hunt out.... I have a lot to learn about the Deus and it's nothing at all like my Explorer 2. I didn't hit anything old or deep, but, I sense that it would have hit on it if I had swung the coil over it. The oldest coin was a 43 war nickle and a 52 wheat, both shallow.

That's a great first hunt! Which program did you use? I would guess Basic1 due to the amount of small aluminum targets dug...

Congrats on the first silver coin too! :clapping:

I'm sure if there was stuff old you would have hit and recovered it

When you get more Deus experience go back to that same site. You may be surprised!! Nice haul on your Deus maiden voyage.

I started out using a program from a guy in the UK, but, it was way to unstable because of being in town and the amount of crap in the ground. I switched over to GM power and tweaked it a bit. I think I fooled around with the settings way too much first time out. I was at an old school built in 1918 and last week I took out 2 silver dimes and walking half plus a few wheats using the Explorer 2 and a Joey coil. The trash is unbearable, but, I figure there could be a rind or two, hence all the tabs.

I think you did fine. After seeing the pic of site, I know I would go back. You might want to use some notch. Say notch from 0-69. You may lose nickles, but the silver should come in. And make the Deus a bit quieter. I'll bet that site has been busted and hard. That's the kind of site I like to learn a detector on. It will accelerate your learning with the Deus.

The nice thing about the site, I live 3 blocks from it. The grassy area is about a half acre in size. I have done really well here over the years.

I'm still here working in Clovis NM. If you want I can meet you for a hunt. I don't mind the extra miles driving.
