First night out in All Metal mode...................

At first it was a nightmare! Ten minutes later I had done the adjustments to my head and it was really cool! Found that some items made me dig them anyway! Relics....All metal is a good way to find relics.
Thanks for the tips guys!
I'll be trying that some more!

KCK,

I remember my first hunt in all metal with the SE. Anyone watching me would have commented on the strange looking staggering man with the bulging eyes swinging that metal detector!

The sounds do initially cause a bit of sensory overload, but as you noticed, if you concentrate, you can tune out the junk sounds and just be aware of the high pitches you hear, or any other tone you want to pick up on. Its like the difference between hearing...and listening!

Its interesting, but the Explorer is one of the few machines that still, in effect, discriminates in all metal because of the different tones it offers. The downside is all that noise, but the upside is picking up on the good targets you hear because the machine is not in a "null" mode due to set discrimination levels. Being that so many areas where I live have been hit so hard, I now have the opportunity to discover what others have walked over due to masked targets.

The null was very much present every time I hunted in discrimination modes. All Metal seemed to open another world for me as I have been hunting with the GTI 2500 prior to this Explorer. Most of my hunting over the past eight years have been in discrimination modes.
The wife who only uses a Tek Turbo, and who won't use any other detector, has hunted in all metal for the last 10 years and won't hunt any other way, she keeps telling me go ahead your the one missing good stuff!
So I thought I'd try the All metal for a while with the Explorer II. I'm liken it so far and have found a lot more nickels I've pasted over several times before with other detectors...Deeper and older in dates...most in the earlier 60's.
Thanks for your reply's and expertise you share I really appreciate them!
