Howdy,
I went out yesterday morning for a fix. Wife asked how long I'd be, and without thinking of the consequences replied "about two silvers." Rats - jinxed it! Went to a park and started swinging. Still using (and loving) the 8x6 SEF, seeking out and poking through signal rich areas. I skipped a fair amount of surface targets, holding out for the deeper sounding targets (the so-called 'iffy' signals). Actually, to call some of these 'signals' would be generous - 'impressions' or 'suggestions' would be more accurate.
Anyway, I made my way through eight consecutive Wheaties with still no silver coins. Along the way I did manage my first ring of the season, which has a couple stones and is .925.

But I really wanted old silver for my fix. So I plodded on. Not finding many more interesting signals in the area I was in, I moved about 50 yards to another section and finally caught a high chirp that held promise. Turned out to be a Merc. I started some more orgainzed patterns from that point and was rewarded by a second one shortly thereafter. And then it went dry again.

Satisfied in finally reaching my goal, I packed it in and returned home. Of the eight Wheats, only two were very interesting, a 1917 and a 1929-S.
