First Silver Ring, and is she a BEAUTY

Ok, I lied about how pretty the ring was, but any time you see Sterling on the inside of the band, she's a beauty!!!!

Searched the yard on Saturday, and hit the school parking lot edge (barely touched it, ran out of daylight) Sunday afternoon. All the coins, and my FIRST SILVER RING, came from the school. The rest of the stuff came from the yard, including the primer end of the shotgun shell, and the .38 caliber round. The peace sign was cool, and the thimble (squashed) has some writing on it, but it will have to go in to the rock tumbler to get cleaned up. The ring was a mess, flattened out, so I had to use a screwdriver to open it up a bit, and lo and behold, there on the inside of the band, was the word "STERLING"!!! The aluminum tag "Lawncomb", was found in the yard. Turns out the patent on this was filed March 31st, 1928! I was able to locate an old newspaper that had been scanned, and in the "for sale" ads was the rake, on sale for 48 cents, marked down from 68 cents! Must be an old rake tag!!! Very cool finds, and I'm only done with half the yard! Metal detecting is too much fun!

By they way, I ordered my second metal detector, one for the wife, so I got an F2!!!!! Something she can handle, hopefully she'll become addicted like me!!!! :twodetecting:

Congratulations! That is one old looking ring there! The thimble is cool too! Good Work!:clapping:
Mud

Mud, I was thinkin' the same thing about the age of that ring. I found it at the local high school, and it was down about 6 inches. It did same like an older design, and not something that a kid would wear. Who would a guy know for sure?

Thanks for the comments, guys! :super:

Good job on the finds. CCH

Excellent assortment of finds stilpony.

Speaking of becoming addicted to THing. As the addiction progresses you'll start to notice, for no apparent reason, how attractive the yards of some of the older homes in your area have become? When the addiction really gets bad the more unkempt the yard is the more attractive it looks! Strange addiction?

Thanks guys!~

knarfj - I'm already doing that...TOO MUCH! LOL Drives my wife nuts! Between that, and that website where you can overlay maps from the 1800's right on to Google maps! That thing is awesome!!!!
