First silver with my new MXT

I spent about an hour at my favorite park on sunday and was getting the usual clad coins when I got a hit on what id'd as a quarter. I pinpointed and it read as being three inches deep. Well, it was a small silver ring about the diameter of a nickel. This is the first silver i've gotten with my MXT. I have been running at preset on both gain and discrimination and cherry picking the area. I think I will lower the discrimination and be less picky now to see what turns up. And by the way, I went to a club sponsored coinshoot on saturday (I am a member of the Weekend goldminers club in Dahlonega Ga.) and I couldn't beleive how much flak I got over my I.D. machine. I showed them though. I beat out a couple of troy x-5's and other tone only machines ,my only limitation was digging time since targets are everywhere. I quit early and still finished in the top five for amount of coins recovered. I guess that ring wasn't my first silver after all but it was my first "free range silver" since it wasn't planted. I'M lovin this MXT!!! And So what if they think tone only machines are better, to each his own......

Congrats on your first silver!
Tone ID would be a great addition to the MXT. That way you wouldn't have to watch the screen as much and could rely more on the sound.
But this MXT user isn't complaining either. A great machine to say the least. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
