First silver with Omega

Had a chance today to try out the 5" coil on a recently acquired Omega at an older school yard and was impressed with the capabilities. Nothing spectacular, but was able to pull out my first silver, a 1947 Rosie at about 4". I still dug a number of junk targets that registered as either nickel or dime but overall, was very pleased with the detector. I think I'm gong to prefer the 5" to the larger coils in many situations because pinpointing is so much easier.

be used 75% of the time and the stock 10" concentric the rest. I really like the 5" DD. However, I now have the new G2 and stuck the 5" DD on it so I just grab the unit that I want with the coil I prefer. I used the 5" DD exclusively for the entire month of September. I only nabbed one nice old dime and a few sterling silver jewlery items and one 14K gold ring with 10 diamonds in a channel setting. Oh, I also recovered 895 coins with only the 5" DD coil, too, so September was an OK month. :)

I know you're going to come to like it a lot in the future. not the best for wide-open sites (although it still works), but for trashy sites or those with building rubble, etc., it excels!
