first silver with the F44

War nickels are cool. I have never found one. All my nickels come out of the ground red and pitted.

Was you using the Jewelry mode or one of the modulated modes?

HH
Mike

Mike dig ID numbers 4 to 7 numbers higher then regular nickel's Also depends on how corroded they are. Normally 4 to 7 numbers higher. Really corroded the 3 to 5 ID numbers lower. The numbers read higher ID because of the silver in the nickel's They are really my favorite coin. That and V nickel's. I like hunting the nickel's because, it is great practice for hunting jewelry that I am always hunting. Later Bud HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

RHG, cool find. Those war nickels are 20% silver so that's why the ID is higher, I remember finding one a couple years ago but it was only down 3" and the ID was mid 60s, it came in on the high tone side. Sounds like you and your new f44 are going to get along just fine.

Most I find hit 30-32 on the F 75. Know they are 30 % silver, but, Jerry. never find them to read as high as you mention. And, have a roll + of them that I have found in the last 4-5 years. Good to see you hanging around here. HH jim tn

You ain't going to dig a war Nickle down here at 30. I wish they hit there on my f75's. I would not have to dig so much. Down here the dirt is a salt Sulphur salinity. It just eats the coins up and really corrodes the heck out of them. The buffs usually read Tinfoil. The silver coins even turns black. Anyway nice to here from you. I am now lurking a lot here now. You know I never did have much to say. LOL. Keep finding the good stuff. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil
