First time out with the 10.5" MF DD coil

I went back to the park that I have hunted, and hunted, and......you get the idea.

I thought I'd pretty much hunted it out. Anyway....came back with $.87 in clad AND a 1909 penny!!! Unfortunately...not an S or VDB, but still pretty cool.

I think I will really like this coil. Much better separation...and since I have mostly used the 9", I'm used to the MF TID's. I think I'm also now covering the ground a little more efficiently. Don't know about depth yet....time will tell.

Congrats. on your success with the 10.5 DD MF. I felt exactly the same as you about hunting out my old park but with the 10.5, I have found 13 Indians, 3 Barber Diimes, 5 Silver Rosies and too many Wheaties to count. It's a great coil but did give me some shoulder pain in the beginning but that has disappeared with use.

Yeah, it's a little on the heavy side....but it also stays closer to the ground in heavier grass.

Went to the school last night to another of my "hunted out" areas. WOW...this coil is a "coin shape" finder. By that, I mean it finds coins, rings....and more bottle caps than I thought were there. I'm finding things that I KNOW that I passed over before. The target separation with this coil is great. Hmmm...maybe the 6" DD next year......

Another $1.00 in clad and a cheap(formerly gold plated) ring.

It's great coil. I've always been a big fan of the HF 10.5" but lately I've been trying to put a little more time in with the MF. In my soil conditions I think I find more with the HF but not that much more than the MF. I'm not sure that there is truly a way to judge that one can find more than the other except that my numbers on outings as far as finds go seems to be a little higher with the HF coil. Could very well be my soil conditions and which frequency is used.

Lately, I've started to notice that I seem to find things a little deeper and older with the MF coil but it's seems more subject to picking up can slaw than the HF. Both great coils, just a little different personalities.

Last year was my first year with those coils and I used to end up with some shoulder and arm pain. This year, no problem whatsoever. I think for the most part, you arm adapts.

Have fun!
