First time out with the F75 LTD and digging everything

I went to an old farm house to try the F75 LTD for the first time. There are overhead electrical wires across the front yard of this farm house and I spent most of my time right under these wires. I kept the F75 LTD set to the factory presets most of the time but I did change the process modes around. I

what was the average depth you was getting in "pre-set" on the l.t.d.?
thanks!

If you dig everything you may say to yourself why don't I just get a shovel....? but as you and I know when you have a detector that finds the masked targets or the iffy targets then you have to dig it all to find the good stuff as you did. Sometimes I will say I will dig it all for about two hours and hope to snag a good relic or coin....or somethimes you are in the wrong spot but it is worth it to dig the overload targets also I find alot of cool stuff that way.

All the coins were about the same depth (4 to 5 inches). The broach and some of the bigger metal pieces were around 7 to 8 inches. Keep in mind this was my first time out with the F75 LTD and this yard is loaded with small metal parts. There are hundreds maybe thousands of 22 rimfire cases all over this yard. Not a very good place to compare depth just a great place to learn a new machine. I have tried other detectors at this spot with not much success but the F75 was a pleasant surprise. I can

The next time I hit this yard it will be with the 5DD. I wanted to get Familiar with the F75 LTD and the big coil so I could have something to compare the 5DD to. I figured this spot would be better suited for the 5DD but a great place to compare the two.

thanks for the input!..trying to get a general idea of depth on coins when gain is reduced on the l.t.d.
with the power of this detector,it is probably a fair assumption that very little will be walked over even with reduced "gain"
scenarios.

IHO you are starting out right. Often, even seasoned detectorists, start off with the 75 running it hot and end up being overwhelmed. It takes a little time getting used to what all the detector is saying. Good job on the coins and broach...and the 5" coil is the real deal and should be a killer on a spot like that. HH jim tn

Man, that is a lot of stuff, but it doesnt look like a boring day either. I almost ignored a large signal today like one of those pieces might of put out and it was a "Wahl Ever Sharp" Gold Filled Mechanical pencil from the twenties. I got it at an old school house. I m still learnig the 75ltd and I got it in Feb. Good Hunting, CO

Looks like that site has great promise. Digging everything when you start off is the way to go, you'll learn the machine and learn what to base those dig/no dig decisions on after you get some data points under your belt. You'll also find that if you dig everything, you'll remove a lot of trash and unmask some treasures. Not only that, but you'll find a few surprises, both good and bad. By the looks of your finds, you'll definitely bag some silver and potentially some nice old jewelery if you keep working that spot

Also if you didn't have any issues with EMI in the factory preset mode, try going to BP mode (it seems to handle EMI better) and lower your disc to 0 and set the sensitivity as high as you can stand it, that will give you the ultimate unmasking capabilities as well as depth.

Brian

I've done the reset to go back to the pre-sets and found the F75 LTD got quiet in the places I have had EMI issues. As soon as I took the discriminator down, it got real noisy until I dropped the sensitivity.

Play with it and see how you like to run it. I like the 0 or 1 discriminate settings, BP mode and adjust sensitivity to quiet it down.

Agree with the several suggestions to get the small coil on for that site ... it will be a killer combination.

JMaryt .Don't be afraid to turn the gain down,, Machine has amazing depth capabilities .some Modes are just better..I have found in some spots De works best and is deeper...in others the Bp mode works best.. Sometimes it depends on the air space between ground and the machine..

thanks for the tip el!....l.t.d is amazing!
