First Time out with the SE :usaa::thumbup:

A friend, Tinfoil and I were hunting a "hammered" football field today. Tinfoil was using his F-75, I was using his SE with the 10"X14" Excellerator loop he got from JW at Kellyco, and the other hunter was using a CZ-6A. Jerry had the SE set up to accept all targets, and was running with a very high sensitivity. I was hitting pennies on edge at 8+ inches, and nickels, Wheaties, and clad coins at 11"(that's the length of the blade on my butcher knife), [lots of fill dirt] and I could pick the loop up several inches and still get a signal. The pinpoint mode was easy to use, but most of the time I just pinpointed in the hunting mode. I found no silver but I did have 3 Buffalo nickels-I'm going to leave the entrenching tool at home next time [its too short] and bring the very long Relic Shovel I got from Ron's Dixie detectors. Jerry came away with two Washington silver quarters, and the other guy had a Mercury dime. [I left one high signal because after I cut the deep plug and was pulling out more dirt, I realized I was in a Fire Ant Bed-multiple stings.:stretcher:]
The next time out I'm going to get him to lower the threshold and show me the target screen.
The only down side is that its hard to see the meter in sunlight. Any remedies?
Other than that, ITS A BLAST!:minelab::detecting:

Vlad, it looks like you really enjoyed yourself !:detecting:

Pennies on edge @ 8"+ is great, so are clads & wheaties @ 11"...

Those fire ants sound nasty, we haven't been effected by those YET thank goodness.

All target screens seem to be effected by sun glare,
I guess you could try fitting some sort of sun visor on top or something similar.

I uploaded this process a year ago. I now use some pieces of plastic on the side to lift up the hose. It works for me....

Hey Kuletule I'll give that a try !

Thanks for the link, and Happy New Year...:detecting:

Im new to the SE and cant say im really having trouble seeing the screen. I do enlarge the screen to see it better that could be why im not having trouble. My biggest problem is the nulling so i have to open up the IM to somewhat eliminate it. The SE seems to really like to hang on to those nulled targets. I am hunting in a trashy area right now around an old foundations and using FAST. I know most people use FAST or DEEP... when do you use FAST/DEEP OFF? How much depth do you loose in that setting?
