First time out with the V3

I bought my new V3 last Sunday and finally got out with it today. I bounced between the stock coin & jewelry and Fox's C&J program. Both held their own in the football field that I was detecting in.

First impression is that I will certainly keep the V3 and cannot wait to get the upgrade when it that time comes. The V3 loves quarters very much. I ended up with $1.84 in change ($1.50 of that in quarters), a small heart shape pendant and a junk ring.

It will take some getting used to as any new detector would. However, I really do like the three frequency search mode and the analyze mode will be a great addition to my decision as to whether to dig or not. I dug a number of bad targets to see how well the V3 was telling me what was in the ground. Every time, if it was foil on the screen, it was foil in the ground. The pull tabs were always pull tabs as well.

I am going to have to do some tweaking as the V3 (and me) are not all that tuned into nickels. My MXT is a nickel killer and I hope with some adjustments, I'll be able to find that configuration set up with the V3.

I detected a school football field for about 1 1/2 hours and liked what I was able to see with the two programs. I was pleasantly surprised that I could detect with the stock C&J mode and did not have to tone it down any in fact I was able to increase the RX - gain to 10 with little or no chirping at all. I backed it down to the default and then called it a day a little while later.

First time out, I'm very impressed and glad I made the purchase. It was well worth saving up for!

Thanks again for the background information on your pallet machine. I ended up getting an overall %94 on the 5 individual projects requirements. Now I just have to wait for the group project grade and the final grade. (Both should be enough to give me an overall A in the class.)

I have about a month off before the next class starts. Problem is I'll be in California for probably 3 weeks of that time off. And we are finally installing our upgraded router system next week. That is if the guy that is headed to England can actually GET there! Who would have thunk a danged volcano would cause us so much problems with travel. Hopefully the cloud will dissipate enough for the team to get to England this week. I need them there by the 26th of April, my fingers are crossed!
