Hi
I bought a Garrett Treasure Ace 100 to get myself into the hobby of detecting without spending loads of money.
I received the detector on Monday night and could not wait to get it out in the fields behind us <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt="

I had to wait until tonight but the wait was worth it.
I am totally new to detecting and have no previous experience.
I put the batteries into the Treasure ace and climbed over into the field.
I got a fair amount of beeps and started to dig.
I could not belive my eyes.
It was an old coin first dig!!!
I then dug a few more times and got old bits of ploughs or farm tools.
I then moved over to the foot path and got a signal very loud.
I dug the soil out and got nothing.
I put the detecter over it again and there was a great signal so I dug deeper to around 6" and there I saw a old worn coin.
I could not belive I had found 2 coins in less than an hour, first time out too!!!
I raced back to clean the finds.
The first coin found was a Geroge 2nd halfpenny from around 1730 ish and the second coin was a William 3rd Halfpenny dated 1696!!
I will be out again tomorrow and I have booked friday off of work and will go all day.
I love excitment of finding old coins and when I get a bit more experience I will upgrade to a real detector. <IMG SRC="/metal/html/ujack.gif" BORDER=0 width=22 height=15 ALT="uj">
