Hello, I'm from Italy and i have just purchased a used Sovereign GT. I have also a Garrett GTP 1350 but i was searching for a detector that its well suited for the salt water beaches because eight times over ten I'm hunting on the beach. I have read many good things on the web over the Sov, and when i checked the local dealer and he said to me that a used Sovereign was available for a good price I've taken it. I've been out two time on the beach and found some small coins at an impressive depth of about 7 inches in the wet sand using both the disc setting and the all metal setting, so i am quite impressed by this machine. My question is which are the best settings for hunting in salt water beaches?

Thank you to all in advance.

Seeing how you have no replies as of yet, I will give my input, I am far from a seasoned beach hunter , but I have faired well enough as a sov. user in general. First off I would imagine conditions vary a bit from site to site, so the sens. could be adjusted acordingly, you will want a stable threshold, audible enough to hear a slight hum, from my limited beach experience the straight up 12:00 position should be ample to achive this. What will never vary is the disc and notch, and they should be turned completely counterclockwise. (No disc and no notch) ....with the sens, you can go higher or lower depending on the way your detector is reacting, if you notice it is ''chirpy'' then back it off a touch until the threshold is smooth........And remember the sov. is not waterproff so be careful near the water and do not dunk it.........good luck

Thak you for the advises, one more question, it's better to hunt in all metal or disc?

To me there is no question about it as Disc has the tone ID for me to ID, it has more depth and much easier to use. All metal is good for pin pointing for me.
