First war nickle and silver washington quarter:thumbup:

I'm about to say good bye to the ATPro, I'm just not finding enough silver with with it. Today gave me a little faith with my finds , but I am so confused with it's ability on sorta deep silver. The coins today were about 4 inch's deep, the brass and copper stuff were deeper. I guess it gets my goat when I can find a brass tack head down at 8 to 10 inch's, but not the silver. It Maybe location or other factors, I don't know . Anyway, U gotta think positive:thumbup:

Problems finding older silver.

1. It's gotta be there
2. People were poorer in those days. Your gonna find alot more pennies than silver coins.
3. *IF* it's there, your ATPro *WILL* sniff it out. Mine does.

I've had my ATPro a month now. Granted I haven't hunted more than 3 parks and I have not fully covered ALL the territory in them. But I've found 2 silver quarters, 2 dimes and 4 silver rings with the ATPro.
Gold rings, now those I haven't found. But I'm over 300 pennies now too.

Have faith in your machine, research for old areas. Check old maps and ask old timers where everyone hung out. Theres ways to up your chances.

I've found about 10 silver quarters this year and only 1 has been over 6 inches deep, that one was close to 9. Four of them were 4 inches or less so I guess they are where you find them. Rule of thumb if your finding lots of wheats there should be a good chance of some silver coins there too.

If you're find brass tacks that deep, I am willing to bet that location is more of a concern for the lack of silver than it is the detector. How deep were your silver coin finds? Like TheGeorgiaCanuck said they got to be there to find them.

Congrats on the "firsts"

Great finds Luke, love the silver. Don't give up on the pro, it's more than capable at getting the deep stuff. If it's under your coil the Pro will see it. If your hunting areas where people have hunted before you have to remember silver is very conductive and usually gives off a great signal even at depth, so it's more than likely the first coins to be found, if someone is out there cherry picking. I've found at this point in the parks the only silver left is the stuff mixed in with the trash that most people don't take the time or have the patience to find. Occasionally you get lucky and find a virgin site and you can really clean up but it takes alot of research.

That's a first silver washington for me also:thumbup: I guess we all want to find the silver often, but it just hasn't been there for me. I read a lot of post on the forums of folks finding more silver than I could imagine. . I have had a great time with the PRO and I aren't a gittin rid it any time soon. None of the silver coins were deep in the ground 4 inch maybe. Seems like I'm digging in reverse mode, old coins are shallow and zincs are deep LOL. Location is the biggest factor for me , I know I have a good machine for relics and coins. Thanks yall and Good Luck.

I also just noticed your from Florida. You do know that hunters in Florida find allot less silver coins than older states. It appears to be a common complaint about Florida hunting.
To find silver in Florida takes allot of research and crossing your fingers that another hunter hasn't vacuumed the site. I'd guarantee that those silvers you found were in trashy areas and were missed by other hunters. If so your ATPro is working great.

I hunt alot of houses from the 1930's to 50's and there is no need for alot of research for me , just give me permission to hunt. I feel I don't find enough silver coins verses the wheats, other coins and relics. Maybe its the operating frequancy of the Machine 15KHZ, that is hurting me, I just don't know. I'm not expecting magic from my ATPRO, but I am concerned . The ground I hunt in around these older houses usually GB at 60 to 70, Not a lot of mineralized soil. I think the ATPRO is a great relic machine and I am am happy with that part, but I think for deeper silver coins , I might B missing out ? I have found some very cool relics , tokens etc with ATPRO. Maybe I can have better results in the future, it's about location and getting the coil over the target, but for now Tarzan misses Jane.

Hello INCH,
The lack of silver has me questioning my own selection of sights. I'm finding tons of clad 2-5 inches down but am not digging any silver. Did find one Mercury in the back yard of a '30's house so I know Aunt Tillie can find it. I'd say hang in there and keep digging and it will come.

I can tell you that silver in FL is tough. The state has seen waves of retirees and snowbirds with their detectors since they were invented! I hunt with both the AT-Pro and a recently aquired E-Trac. Even the silver magnet E-Trac isn't finding much on old sites. Silver in this state is a real challenge. Even at our local club meetings you only see a little.

It's all a learning process for me . There are a lot of homesteads out there with some silver and good relics . When people think of florida and detecting they think of beach's, and with the retirees and snowbirds detecting, your chances R reduced for the silver, because it's not just beach's they hunt., good point Sailorman. The good stuff is out there and I love an old house property. The biggest challenge for finding the good stuff is me I wish everyone would give me permission to detect on there property:thumbup:. I work everyday(JOB) so I cant hunt like I want. Even with the majick E-trac or whatever type of machine u use , U have to kick it up a notch and make it happen for success. I think I'm the most impatient person about detecting , I guess that's why people call me trouble when they c me coming:rofl:
