Maybe not a biggie, but I am making some progress!

I went to a spot that I had a hunch about. I pulled out my Minelab Safari with the 11" DD coil, swung it around a bit and had a difficult time pinpointing anything. Seemed there was a lot of trash.

Walked back to the car and put it in the trunk and decided to try my Titan 2000xd aka BH 2200 because it has a smaller coil. Well with that 8" concentric coil it turns out the reason I had a hard time with the Minelab was because there were so many coins all in one place! I literally pulled out 3 coins in one scoop, then found a coin about every 5 inches! I swear if my pinpointer had a bit more depth I could have use just that and no detector!

Knowing that this spot was good, I will be going back but I left after about an hour cause I wanted to check out another spot before dusk. This time, I went straight for the Titan and this spot was hotter than the first, coins every few inches and the concentric coil made is so easy to locate even without pinpoint mode. I can see that the Bounty Hunter has a place in my arsenal.

Most of the coins wer'e unfortunately not as old as I had hoped and only one old coin. But being able to pull them up one right after the other was a blast, what a fun day.

Congrats! I'm still looking for my first wheat... found a pile of clad, but nothing to write home about!

Excellent day for You Sky1,keep up the good work and enjoy pulling those coins from the ground...Mark

I wonder, in fishing we would call that a "honey hole". Usually some sort of structure that fish hang around that you pull up a mess of fish. A few weeks later do it again. Sounds like you have a "money pit", a place that people hang out and loose clad. I wonder how often you can dirt fish that area and come up with a mess of clad ??? Glad you found a great spot !!!

Hi Sky1:

What is your impression of the Titan 2000 DX?

The controls look identical to the Discovery 2200 and the Elite 2200. The Kellyco description indicates it comes with a different coil, however the BH site has it with one looking like the Discovery and Elite 2200 machines. The Titan 2000 DX also has slots in the arm rest for an around-the-arm strap does it not? The Discovery and Elite 2200 units do not. The Kellyco info says it is an extra deep detector, however the BH site makes no mention of that.

What I like about the Elite 2200 is that there are no knobs sticking out and the audio-out plug is on the underside, out of the rain. I believe these features make the design less susceptible to rain and dust infiltration. I still have not made up my mind if infinitely variable sensitivity and discrimination controls (twist knobs vs discrete increments) are a plus or not. What are your thoughts?
