Fisher 1235-X Project

Hey guys/gals, I don't think I ever posted up my 1235-X build I did a year or so ago. Pretty much took a brand new 1235-X that I originally purchased and converted it to carbon fiber straight shaft and added the 10.5" spider coil. Sourced everything out, had the carbon shaft cut to specs and proceeded to build a one of a kind 1235-X, just love it.

Its so much better than the S shaft. It's a bit heavier over the factory 8" spider but still nice. One thing I noticed yesterday, this machine will still work with only 1 of the 2 9v, one had fallen out and it was still working. I use to frequent this site as username Darryl.

That's a very cool shaft mod you did on the 1235! I used one of those for years and let it go like a dummy. They are a fun machine to use!

Looks to me like a TDK wireless headphone setup. Just MHO

Yes that was the TDK wireless headphone system, works great. The straight carbon fiber shaft was light years better than the factory shaft and lighter but balance is unreal.
 
Qmaze what an awesome mod. I have two factory stock Fisher 1235-X metal detectors but one died on me. I used them both in open and close Club hunts. And now I'm looking to get my one repaired at honest repair shop. I would also like to know if you could provide me the source of the carbon shaft and what was used to hold the main control box on to the shaft ?
I'm a 77 year old Vietnam Veteran who's been metal detecting for over 45 plus years and get arm cramps if I swing to many hours. My hunt partner says I only hunt surface coins because I don't want to distrub the ground,:lol: Thank You. BUDWISER
