Fisher 1270x or Tesoro vaquero ?

I am going to buy me a new machine next week and can not decide on which one. I have it narrowed down to the Tesoro Vaquero or the Fisher 1270x. Can anyone give me some insite on the Fisher vs. the Tesoro. I live in Virginia with a wide variety of soil conditions rangeing from mild to really HOT. I will be relic, coin & jewelry hunting. I am not new to this hobby....just been out of it for the past 10 years or so and am looking to get back in the field.

Can't speak for the Tesoro but I have and use the Fisher 1270, only been using it for about 6 months and just loving it. Been a 1265X man since it came and that is a good machine. The 1270 takes over where the 65 and 66 left off . Relic hunting in NJ is a little different here no CW stuff but I've been hunting a real old farm that went to the town for back taxes and its been worked pretty good but I'm still pulling alot of stuff out of there. the multiple variation you can setup to use give this detector am ID plus. When hunting farm field I will start with "Primary Setting of: Iron disc. about 5, and Secondary Setting: Normal Disc. also about 5, this way to start the field the "First " time I don't have to fool with the little iron junk and it will see thur to the good target, push and hold the toggle forward and check it in Disc 5 still there Dig Away!!
Second search : Switch Prime: Normal Disc about 3.5 Secondary Iron Disc. 4. beeps on prime setting go to Iron no sound small iron most likely get tone Dig away.
Third pass All metal with ground comp set right, high Sen to get Threshold tone, Secondary (Optional) Normal or Iron 3 and listen for low tone changes, Believe me this detector goes deep on small target. I get small buttons you'll get CW small button's down there. You should read the manual on the 1270, more features then that silent search for pops and crackles. I appreciate your feedback on this. I have read a great many good things about the 1270 and the Vaquero. Both seem to be very good and "deep diggin'" machines. The Vaquero is about 1lb lighter but at 3.5lbs, the Fisher 1270x is still well within range of an "all day swinger" IMO. The 1270x is about $120 more in cost and I am just wondering if I will gain more machine for the money. I do like the looks and feel of the Fisher better. The 1270 feels a little more rugged and I like the fact it has a toggle/trigger rather than the Vaquero's push button but these are minor areas of concern for me. I am more interested in how these machines perform in unstable(hot) grounds, learing curve and accurate discrimination.

Have a lot of Iron mines and were in an iron ore area alot of old Inon furnaces up this, I don't have any problem with that and did some Beach detecting last storm on the Jersey shore, she wasn't to bad for not being a salt water mach. Dropped back on the SEN. in the wet sand and was pulling coins and 1 14K wed. ring, couldn't go in the water though. Freshwater she better then on the ground specicaly where small objects come in (Jewery). I have a 200 year old farm abuot 2 miles from the house quite abit of property. Land has never seen a detector, finally got permission, used to farm corn or soy bead and other Veg. last or 6 year not been plowed just grass going for feed. The property is next to three time Rev. encampment for Gen Bergonnes Army. Can't wait till Spring...

Have used both. Currently have a 1270, Tejon and F75. Went on a hunt a couple years ago in Virginia, took the Tejon, and could not get the the depth I typically get here in Texas. Guys with their Fishers AND Garretts were having less trouble with the mineralization. Although I love my Tejon...it is my "go to" machine....it will NOT be going back to Virginia. I would go to a dealer in your area and check out which machine works better for you.....just make sure you try the F75 also. HH'ing Kieth-Tx

I think I am gonna' pull the trigger on a new 1270. It gets good reviews all around, has a decent warrenty (5yr), seems more ruggedly made than the Tesoro and has a 10 year track record. I will probably end up with a Tesoro as well before it is all over.........one can never have too many toys My gun and guitar collection has grown considerably over the last 20 years

which ever you choose i think will be a winner i've also talked to guys that have used the 5" coil on the fisher and its super on coins and really good depth as well, when i can afford it again i'm going to pick up another one myself, well alright man good luck to you and when you go on your hunts just keep us posted on the hunts!

Well I have tested my 1236x2 agianst the 1265 and 1266 and they tested dead on the same, now the 1270 added manual ground so a slight advantage in bad ground. I own three tesoros, and 3 fishers, and my favorite fisher is my CZ7aPro, same as a CZ 70 with the 70 have one more tone which I see no advantage of, and a wash, just the same performance. So if I were going relic hunting today I would for sure take the CZ as my first choice and hip mount it so I could hunt all day, easy to hip mount, and includes the bracket. If I were going with the Tesoro it would be the Tejon, a much more proven relic hunter than the Vaquero. Now all the machines you are concidering are great machines, and will give good performace, but I believe the CZ will win the contest.

Well I got a great deal on a new in box 1270x today. $525.00 out-the-door I think after doing much research and absorbing many opinions, I have made a solid purchase. I can't waite for the weather to get better so I can hit the field with it ! Thanks to all who have assisted my in my decision

Agree with the toys!!! Although my wife might not! Each one of my detectors has a particular thing that IT is best at. I love my Fishers...just wish they had as good a warranty as my Tesoros.

That's funny, My Detector and guitar collection's keep's growing as well, come to think of it so has my accumulation of firearms My wife say's i use the Shotgun effect and if would concentrate on one area of Expertise i would be dangerous, Right now it is Music and Ice Fishing, but as soon as i can dig again I'll have Detector tunnel vision.
Good luck with the 1270x I own a 1260x - CZ-3D- CZ7 a Pro actually my wife has nabbed the 7a Pro and we love our I also own 3 Tesoro's a Cibola , Silver u-Max and a Tiger Shark and I'll just say don't let the weight of those Detectors fool you they are Tough as nails, I really like them also, there just not as Deep as my Fishers in my opinion.
