My wife and I just spent a delightful week on St Simons Island and she allowed me to bring both my F 75 LTD and Omega along. That way she could shop and walk the beach in peace. Truth be known, I did do a good bit of detecting, some on the beach, but mostly in the turf. All in all, both detectors shared in the booty finds so I will post on the Tek forum, too. The Omega got the best coin, a 1915 Barber quarter. It was pretty nasty just out of the ground, but was able to get the black crud off with a soda and tooth brush scrub. The LTD got the black merc, 51d Rosie, 1900 IH and the 925 silver ring with red stone. The ring was a dry sand beach find and probably lost this past summer as it was still in pretty decent condition. I had hit a small coin spill and working out from the spill got the ring about 3 or so feet away. Perhaps the coins and ring were lost at the same time. I didn't count the pennies, but got 23 X 25, 36 x 10 and 13 x 5. Both the LTD and Omega shared about equal on the 12 wheat cents. The Other Indian is a 1904 gotten by the Omega. The black Merc came from right beside a tar walk way and I recovered it from black tar stained gravel. That Ga coastal turf is hard on coins. Woke up this morning to low 40's temps. Shouldn't have left the island!!!!! HH jim tn
That is the perfect way to spend a vacation though, let her do her thing, and go detecting! Great find on the old silver Jim,! just goes to show...you've got silver this year from what three different States?
