Fisher CZ3d Not the Correct Forum

I have a couple of questions about the CZ3d and I thought I would ask them on this forum as the CZ forum is not real active. First Texas still sells 3d's and I have read and heard that they are not like the original 3d's. I had one of the first CZ3d's and it was the only detector that I ever paid for and waited to go public. It was worth the wait. Are there any people who have a First Texas 3d and how does it perform? I heard that they were not calibrated correctly, but supposedly, that issue was fixed. I would hate to buy a new detector and have to ship it off to Tom D to have it calibrated. I know his claim to fame is "air testing", but if anyone has a new 3d, please enlighten me(or us) to it's in ground performance. I am not trying to "stir the pot", but I am baffled at how this one time great detector has sort of fallen off the map.

Dave J made a post awhile back..saying FT found the original how to calibration directions ..................... and it solved the issues..

Here is Dave J.'s post about the history of the issue and how it was resolved:

I bought my CZ-3D a little over a year ago and it will air test on a clad dime at 10.5" - I also have a SLQ & a merc buried in one of my test gardens at 8.5" and it will hit both loud & clear. A little on the heavy side - loves nails and to get the best performance I have to make sure the batteries are good & hot.
