FISHER F2 QUESTIONS ? HELPP!!!!

Woodchuck

New member
Received a new Fisher F2 First off its all black it is not gold colored rods any where as shown on internet or even manual picture. Does anybody have one like this? 2nd manual says Quote "An arrow will illuminate under the target category where an object is best clasified, and stay illuminated until another target is identified." end of Quote NO Where does the F2 I got have this .Does anybody have a F2 that has this feature?.Please post or PM if you can answer me about these concerns ASAP. Somethings not right here!

that does sound strange
I have an F2 and it has NO arrows a target segment lights up when you sweep an object and remains lit
would be nice to see some pics of the face plate
is it an F4?

No it is a F2 and manual mentions about the target arrows an so do the reviews online about the F2. They mention the target arrows. The face plate says F2 . I'm not happy about this did fisher change the design features on the F2? and not say anything?.I want a Fisher like the manual and write ups say

Hi Woodchuck, First of all you will read and be advised about arrows on F2 but reality is that the segments will be showing on top if they are in play or they will be blanked out if you discriminate or notch them out, this is easier to recognise rather than looking for a small arrow. I dont know why Fisher printed this but you will find that they say a lot about the F2 which is a stretch of the imagination. I have had reason to contact them directly for info and while they replied with basics they were not too interested in going the extra mile to keep their customer happy.
All in all the F2 is a good dry machine but is pretty useless in wet sand on beaches as you have to reduce sensitivity very low and discriminate iron, foil and tabs which unfortunatley some small gold items show up as. Being a unit with fixed GB I can understand some restrictions, but if you believe Fisher Labs reviews you would think that it was effective in every situation. Anyhow enjoy your new detector and if you spend some time getting to know it you will reap the rewards.

The newer F2's may have a different color scheme...can you post a photo? I actually like the sound of an all black one!

But what gets me is different reviews and users mention these target arrows,I understand the item display and all that notching in and out etc. And how the screen and features work...But why would all these other people mention a feature that is not there unless Fisher removed it at some point and time. You ca go online and google for yourself and see what i'm talking about.I just want a answer to this.I'm calling Fisher later about this.

Good luck with Fisher Labs and keep us updated. If its anything like my responses you will be passed from one person to another but the answers dont vary very much.

Well I called Fisher labs, and they had to get back to me with the answer. They did get back to me the F2 DOES NOT HAVE TARGET ARROWS.Its is incorrect info in the manual, and all those write ups and reviews that mention it online are also incorrect also.As for my F2 being black it is the new color scheme no gold s rods,or middle rod etc.All subdued black now, no more shiny bright metal on the F2.They have had quite a few calls about the target arrows misinformation.GEE you think they will fix it?

You guys got my curiosity up so I pulled a new manual for the F2 from Kellyco. It does not mention arrows just "target Icons" so perhaps they have changed it, You can find that manaul here:

NEVER MIND, a more careful reading shows it uses both terms. My apolgy!
