Fisher F44 spare coils and other questions

Now I really have to know something. Does it matter if it's rainy or humid? I went out today to pretty much the same areas I did on labor day. I frel mt gold ring was pure luck now. My ground grab was in the 80s. Dug many false targets. Turned my sensitivity down do 10. Water or land... same crap. Is it possible my coil is getting wet internally? Tried custom mode as well. Lot of iron popping around. Really confused. I am fairly new at this my son is saying I bought a much more advanced detector than I can handle. He has a Garret 350 and found plenty. But he has not found a gold ring or any silver. I have. So just wondering

Thanks

I have not purchased the DD coil yet for my Fisher F44. However, I did plow my garden a few weeks back which made me a nice coin testing garden. So I tested a few coins. Wheat Penny, Merc Dime, 43 Nickle, 67 1/2 Dollar. These were placed relatively flat. The Dime was on a angle a bit. All were about 4 - 5 inches and the silver dime and half were at 7 - 8 inches. I have the Fisher F44 and a Teknetics D4000. Results were a little disappointing.

The Fisher could not pick up the dime or at least maybe got a blip in one sweep then a another a couple sweeps later or just one way sweep. Had some issue with the half but did pick it up ID numbers were jumping about 3 - 4 digits. The rest at 5 inches no problem. GB balanced at 74 with GB Grab, Sensitivity at 15.

Technetics D4000 Hate to say it but, no issues what so ever. Good tones on all coins and ID varied only 1 or 2 digits on all targets.

I have had good hunts with this Fisher and bad hunts. The reason I say this is when I hunt I am not alone. My son has a Garret 350 and my Uncle has a Fisher CZ. I know my uncle's is not even close to compare the Fisher 44 but either way, these 2 guys will out coin and out treasure me any day. Just the other day my uncle and I were out doing a construction site..Blvds of streets grass layer removed. Lunch time so I had just over an hour. I got 9 coins 1 was a 43 Nick and a 47 Dime. Good fines, but my uncle in that hour or so got 60 coins. No silver. I am missing a lot of targets I think. I only dig what looks like a solid hit. If the ID numbers bounce around to much I do not dig because its more that likely can slaw.

I have been thinking about selling this and going to the Teknetics Omega 6000 or Garret AT Pro. Or should I see if there is something wrong with my machine? Last but not least, I am not afraid to admit it may be just me. I am not that experienced at metal detecting, but I really do not understand the differences in the results.

Little advice would be helpful and I can take constructive criticism as well.

Partial deletion ..No sales solicitation in regular froums ..See the rules please

Thanks for listening.

Experience perhaps makes for some of the difference between you and your uncle's count counts. The age of your coin garden is a factor as well. I would give the F 44 30 to 40 more hours of hunting time and dig a lot of targets to learn for sure what it is telling me. Particularly, some of those iffy, broken signals you are passing up. Good luck! HH jim tn

Does anyone have an opinion on the best coil for the f44? I mainly hunt for coins but obviously like to find anything of value. Thanks!

I don't have an F44,I have an F22.It came with the stock 9 inch elliptical-concentric and just recently I purchased the Fisher 11 inch DD coil.Frankly,I think that the DD does nothing better than the stock coil other than cover more ground per sweep.Pinpointing, especially in trashy areas is certainly a lot easier with the concentric.A slight increase in depth in air tests with the DD doesn't seem to translate to targets in the ground.I can hit a quarter at at 8 inches with the stock coil and under the right conditions the DD betters that only slightly.

I'd like to try the 11 inch concentric that's stock on the F44 on my 22.I have a suspicion I'd like it better than the DD.Luckily I got serious deal on the DD (from Fisher,no less) or I would have been very disappointed at paying top buck for little gain in performance.
