Fisher f5 coil

Has anybody had a problem with the fisher F5 coil wire sounding off when you touch it where you plug it into the detector box? I have to keep playing with the coil plug to get it to stop. this is a new detector and the second coil replacement in 3 weeks.
I taped the coil wire down as close to the box as I could, it seem to help a little. Fisher replaced the coil and said it was a bad plug. new one dose the something. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? Been detecting over 30 years never Had a problem like this. HELP. Oh yes it will find coins and rings up to 8" deep when working right.

Sorry to lear that your having problems with such a fine unit as the F5. You shouldn't have to tape the cable down. Something isn't right.

Send the unit back & explain it hasn't been fixed. They did do the prior work, correct ?

i don't know a lot about the machine as i just purchased it today and won't receive it until next week, but what gain and threshold are you using? i know that if the gain is too high you will get a lot of chatter. or it could be a problem in which case it scares me since i did just buy the f5.

Oh good I just found out that in my back yard there are tons of under ground wires, cables. This was the problem when I took it out in the back. Works fine at parks, beaches (salt and fresh) EVEN NEAR OVER HEAD POWER LINES.
Just found a 1976 quarter at 8" in hard clay here in Virginia. my total finds in about 11 hour of use 250 coins 5 rings 6 earring 1 cross 25 nickles which is always a good sign that it tune right. (disc mode notch out iron foil)

How in the world can you dig 250 coins in 11 hours? Thats a coin every minute and 1/2. Even if you didn't dig any trash I can't imagine being able to dig them out that quickly. Can you explain to us how you dig so fast?

I was thinking the same:rofl:

Sure can. I lived in a gated community with five small beaches around the lake and guess what I'm the only Person with a detector here. (FACT) Most of my finds were many coins clumped together 5, 8 at a time sometimes, most are down only 3-4 inches under the sand hard clay under the sand so nothing goes down too deep. So it's just a matter of scooping them into my sand scooper. I'm just looking for stuff on top at first ALSO I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 40 PLUS YEARS.
Remember this if you are the first one there your finds are going to be a lot at first.
Update I'm now working the kiddy play areas wood chips just brush them away you will be SURPRISED AT WHAT IS THERE.

This weeks finds with my Fisher F5 Detector. Found in wood chip filled play grounds in 12 hours
Nothing really great Just Penny's some quarters nickles dimes some( rings????) B/S knife plyers

I don't doubt Crusher at all, a coin every 2 and a half minutes is very believable to me. And yes, Boston Metal, your math is wrong.

How long does it take to pop a coin that isn't too deep? 10 seconds, maybe 20?

The F5 does a decent job on relics, and very well on jewelry, but first and foremost it's a premier silver/copper/clad coin shooter.

Like I said if you read my last post a lot of the coins were together 5-8 sometimes, most people have more then one coin in their pocket. Also a lot of them are found where the umbrella and chair rental booth is on the beach.
Also I don't dig one way sounds, sounds that disappear come and go. And I can tell you what most sounds are with my eyes closed. I have been using Fisher Detectors for 30 years and most coin finds have the same sound with Fisher Detectors,
My detectors were fisher, 1226.1260.(1236x2 still have works great) 1280 6acz, 7a, f5. My first detector was a Garrett BFO back in 1970

Sorry about the bad math! I didn't mean to question your veracity, just wanted to undestand how you did it. That is a torrid pace!
