The rain has kept me inside since Thursday, so I was ready to get out and do some swinging. I decided to go back where Taylor and I last hunted together to see if I could unearth some more silver. I also wanted to give the 'dp' audio mode a try. Mud did a good sales job convincing me that I should try it. I started out easing the search coil down a old driveway and It didn't take long before I had a 1939 Mercury Dime under the coil. It was singing up a storm. It must have fallen out of someone's pocket many years ago when they got of the car. I started off detecting in the DE mode, sensitivity at 85, discrimination at 7, GB 63, and 'dp' for the audio. It was one of the days the F75 wouldn't calm down. I don't think it likes overcast. I moved the settings all over the place, it still acted like it was in a knot. I ended up using the boost mode with a sensitivity of 50 and kept it in the 'dp' audio. That combination works better at hitting deeper targets in the taller grass. My next good target was a screamer, it came in loud and clear, a 1952 Rosie. The wind got to gusting and I was also tired of dealing with the sticky mud, so I decided to head for the house around 11:00 o'clock. After getting home and washing the coins, I ended up with more wheat pennies than I thought I had. Eight of them total, (1956, 1934, 1956,1944, 1941, 1944, 1950, 1944 ). I need to clean up all my equipment and get ready for tomorrow's hunt.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I got my search coil over a coin spill with a couple of quarters, a dime, a nickel and 2 copper pennies in it. The 'dp' sure made me want to dig. I see now why Mud finds so many coin spills.
