Fisher F75SE :fisher: First Silver Ever Using 'dp' :detecting:

The rain has kept me inside since Thursday, so I was ready to get out and do some swinging. I decided to go back where Taylor and I last hunted together to see if I could unearth some more silver. I also wanted to give the 'dp' audio mode a try. Mud did a good sales job convincing me that I should try it. I started out easing the search coil down a old driveway and It didn't take long before I had a 1939 Mercury Dime under the coil. It was singing up a storm. It must have fallen out of someone's pocket many years ago when they got of the car. I started off detecting in the DE mode, sensitivity at 85, discrimination at 7, GB 63, and 'dp' for the audio. It was one of the days the F75 wouldn't calm down. I don't think it likes overcast. I moved the settings all over the place, it still acted like it was in a knot. I ended up using the boost mode with a sensitivity of 50 and kept it in the 'dp' audio. That combination works better at hitting deeper targets in the taller grass. My next good target was a screamer, it came in loud and clear, a 1952 Rosie. The wind got to gusting and I was also tired of dealing with the sticky mud, so I decided to head for the house around 11:00 o'clock. After getting home and washing the coins, I ended up with more wheat pennies than I thought I had. Eight of them total, (1956, 1934, 1956,1944, 1941, 1944, 1950, 1944 ). I need to clean up all my equipment and get ready for tomorrow's hunt.:detecting:

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I got my search coil over a coin spill with a couple of quarters, a dime, a nickel and 2 copper pennies in it. The 'dp' sure made me want to dig. I see now why Mud finds so many coin spills.

Yesterday was the day of the Solar Perihelion...the Sun was the closest to the Earth for the year, plus it had a big hole in it with solar winds brushing past us, plus it was a Full Moon cycle....so thats why your rig was squirrely !

Running a low to mid sens, like mid 50's with DP and DE modes, and a 4 disc, -3 thresh, you can hunt pretty good, even deeper/masked coins...you can also learn to sort of jig your coil above a target instead of using the PP button to locate specific targets in heavy trash, or spills where the PP gets confused...just lightly and rapidly jig your coil above a target a few inches off the ground, like a drummer, until the tone is very crisp and right under the sweet spot....it works very well and a guy wont ever use the PP button again, or ever look at the screen for TIDS...the pings tell you everything you need to know once you get the hang of it...

Nice work Tab! I'm glad you are experimenting.:clapping:..I havnt been hunting yet this year! Might get some snow work in on the sledding hill though..its real cold and snowing and will continue for a few weeks they are saying..:sadwalk:.

Bah' brain fart Tab, Meant to congratulate you not Mud pup lol

Guess after all this rain and the corresponding mud I have been covered in, has mud on the mind lol

Is that the NEL sharpshooter coil your using?

I have a hard time using the DP audio mode, it's such an artificial digital sound that I just find it annoying to listen too. What do you find that it brings to the table vs the other audio modes?

Happy hunting,
Brian
