I woke up early, but I messed around and didn't get to the site until a little after 9:00 o'clock. I've really been dragging butt for the last month or so and haven't done much detecting. I figured that I needed to get out and do some swinging to loosen up a little. I've been eyeballing this place for a while and figured that I'd give it a try today. It's one of those places that most people would overlook. Exactly the kind of place that I like to detect.
I figured that I'd do some 'high toning' today and cherry pick it before someone else does. I set the sensitivity at 50, used 3 tones, set it to the boost mode and GB at 61. It was a little chatty but not bad. When I'm using the F75SE I don't pay much attention to the ID number readout, I go mostly by tones. The deep wheat pennies where just barely getting a high tone. I ended up digging 14 Wheat Pennies ( 1953, 1947, 1945, 1946, 1945, 1951, 1958, 1953, 1956, 1958, 1921, 1941, 1952, 1910 ), a toasted Indian Head Penny, a heavily tarnished 1945 silver War Nickel ( it was in the hole with 2 wheat pennies), a 1964 silver Washington Quarter, a 1945 silver Washington Quarter, a 1942 silver Mercury Dime, a couple of Euro Coins, and a few neat relics. I only spent around an hour and a half there and only quickly covered about 20 percent of the site. I'm sure that I messed a lot of good stuff by going so fast and only digging the high tones. I'll go back later with one of my other detectors after I get the area cherry picked. Some good stuff is going to come out of this site.
Oh yeah, I was using the NEL Sharpshooter Coil.
