Fisher F80

About a year out according to Fisher today on Facebook.

The F22 and F44 can go underwater but not the F11.

To 24" underwater. 5 hours of being underwater in the test lab without a problem. I think it's designed to go underwater if you drop it in a creek or the surf. Not an underwater detector though.

From Fisher:
"To be straight up on what we mean by weatherproof. The real test between weatherproof and waterproof is depth. The f 44 control box cannot be submerged more than a few inches. Depth, means pressure and pressure is tough on the seals. So the f44 is completely drenchable, dunkable, drop in a shallow pool safe, but you can't hunt with the power box submerged. The warranty is 5 years for weatherproof."

I found a thread from 2010 where there was a rumor of an F80 model to celebrate 80 years in business. The poster mentions waiting another year for the F80 instead of buying an F75 at that time. Fun stuff.

I suspect one more top of the line F Series detector, weatherproof like the new F44. Tim Mallory of First Texas has said as much.

After that - it's time for something totally different. Single frequency VLF detection technology is nearing it's ultimate limits.

I've had my F75 LTD since 2009, and did the upgrade back in October, and then again in January, so a long time F75 user here. It's been a love/hate relationship let me tell you, BUT I have made some really good finds with it since 2009.

If First Texas needs a F80 beta tester, I'm your man

So if the 85th anniversary of the company is coming up wouldn't it make sense to call it the F85?

Anyone hear when the f44 will be out. Msrp? I'm very interested.....

This what you mean?

No but similar. Try a major search engine with the string "fisher f80 site:metadetectorwebsite" no quotes needed. I just saw one from 2012 that rumored it to be a 3 frequency machine with color display. Crazy stuff. Pretty comical.
