Enjoyed the video as not many of these types of videos are around, twin box detectors these days have fallen out of favour for deeper Pulse machines etc,but they can and do have a place in the detecting arena,i do own a TW-5 by Fisher and are basically identical machines,if you are hunting for small fry ie coins with a twin box then folks are totally wasting ones time, these machines are primary designed to find bigger target ie large hoards that type of size item, the larger the target the deeper they will go,if ones buries a large petrol can size or bigger target it will locate it and pretty good depths.
I bought one as brand new for peanuts a few years back,no one has a clue what they are or what they do,so as its a buyers market for these types of machines they can be picked up very cheap,i use mine for homing in on a possible 2 scattered hoard sites that i have access to in the UK,you can tell its a scattered hoard because the plough is dragging coins into a specific pattern, then the clean up starts with finding the loose coins and then bring the big fella out to play to try and locate the actual container, which of course may or may not be in the ground,if the coins/artifacts had been in a leather container then the leather would have rotted away just leaving the coins.
But the price i paid for this machine is basically just a little more than a stock detecting coil would normally cost so i am not worried if it sits in the corner of the room gathering dust,as all it could take is just one decent deep find to pay for all your detectors at once.Would i buy a new one at the heavy price tag that they come with ?? my answer would be 'NO' because the price/finds wise does not add up in my favour, but does a cheap working 2nd hand work in my favour i would reply 'YES' it could possible do that.Of course it may sat in the corner of the room for ever and never be used again, but its not alot of money that i would have lost and even if i did sell it i copuld make a decent profit on it.
Once again a very good video,a specialised machine for a specialised type of detecting,i do like detecting with interesting different machines and the Fisher twin box series certainly ticks my interesting box.
